The key to building a long-lasting battery is making it bigger. The bigger battery, with more capacity, means longer battery life. When we design a portable product, every tenth of a millimeter is precious. The challenge, designing a bigger battery, is ways to find the space to put it. We find when you design for a movable battery, there is a lot of waste of space. A lot of that space and volume is used for mechanisms, structure, battery compartment, even removable doors. By embedding the battery, we are removing all the structures associated with the removable battery; we are able to create a notebook with the 40% larger battery, that last up to 8 hours on a single charge, at the same size and weight.
