Repair short ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 mothermoard
It's a ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 motherboard. When push power button,it does not even attemp to power on without any peripherals plugged in and with or without CPU power plugged in.
The mobo comes with a standby power LED inside PWR_SW button, but not light up.
Unplug the power cable.
Pick up my multimeter then select buzzer, red probe to ground, black probe to +5VSB_ATX,i hear beep.
Turn on the adjustable power supply and select the voltage to 5V,black probe to ground, red probe to +5VSB_ATX,feel hot when i touch PQ615 (model 06P03LCG,marking 06P03G).
Remove PQ615's soldering from the mobo.
Turn on the adjustable power supply and select the voltage to 5V,Black probe to ground, red probe to DRAIN of the solder pad。Find out that the culprit is a Solid Capacitor as shown.
Remove the capacitor from pad.
Pick up my multimeter then select buzzer, red probe to ground, black probe to +5VSB_ATX,there's no beep,it's normal.
I already have P06P03G replacement and soldering to motherboard.
Now trying to power on motherboard with cpu power and with RAM plugged in,the mobo boot normal.
