CPU/ASIC芯片时钟限制在4G+ 的范围是确是事实,此是由诸多因素造成。其中最为主要的是工艺限制和功耗。

Why haven't CPU clock speeds increased in the last 5 years?
If you look at x86 processors, the actual complexity of the CPU core has not significantly changed for a few generations now. Haswell, from a functionality point of view, is not that much different that Ivy Bridge or Sandy Bridge before it. The circuits have been optimized, the power management significantly improved, the transistors have shrunk and performs better and certain internal buffers and queues have been resized for slightly better performance. But for the most part, the CPU core hasn't change radically.
x86 cpu近几年没有什么革命性的改进, 其性能提升主要是借助于工艺的改进。因为先看下过去几十年工艺改进带给CPU的好处。

@霍华德 提到一种流体热管技术,当初没看懂没有在意,直到实验室里聊到了IBM正在开发的电子血液技术:

现在Intel LGA 1150封装,上千个pins里主要都是用来供电和共地。用液体给每个pin同时供电(氧化还原反应)和散热(流动的液体带走热量),感觉设计初衷非常巧妙!很像生物学的解决方式!同时解决了散热和供电问题,提高频率问题就不会太大。
